About The Wrestling Club

Located at a state of the art 13,500 square foot facility in Owings Mills, Maryland, Ground Control Wrestling Club is where wrestlers are built, and people are developed.

At Ground Control Wrestling Club, we believe wrestling is more than a sport. It's a lifestyle, and in using the world's oldest sport of wrestling, we will instill traits that build discipline, resilience, confidence, and character that last a lifetime.

We created this club to give elementary, middle, and high school wrestlers in the greater Baltimore area access to world class coaching they simply cannot find anywhere else. Our coaching staff has earned medals at every level of the sport, from state championships and national titles to NCAA competition and world medals on the United World Wrestling (UWW) stage. Every athlete who walks through our doors will be developed just as much off the mat as on it. You can read more about our coaching staff here.

Have Fun. Get Better.

Our Mission:

Develop wrestlers who leave this wrestling club and go out into the world as elite athletes and even better people.

Our Vision:

Build a program that draws athletes from across the greater Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Virginia area, developing state champions and NCAA athletes who go on to earn college scholarships.

OUR GOAL IS SIMPLE:

Create life-changing opportunities for every wrestler who walks through our doors.

Meet The Coaches

Youssif "Coach Moose" Hemida

Head Coach

Youssif "Coach Moose" Hemida earned his nickname the moment he walked onto the campus of the University of Maryland at 6'5" and 250 lbs, but don't let the size fool you. Praised throughout his career for moving like a lightweight, Hemida went on to become the most decorated heavyweight wrestler in University of Maryland history. Now every athlete who steps on the mat with him has access to that same championship standard.
